Umfrage und Aussichten - Look into the future and voting

In recent years we have been somewhat motivated by our event "Anno Domini 1743 - Freud und Leid" [1], in addition to presenting the research results for our events, we have also focused a little on the War of the Austrian Succession. Our posts on the Battle of Simbach [2] and the Battle of Grimbergen [3] are among the most read articles on our blog. We are not only pleased about the work that we have put into it, but also because the conflict still receives little or no public attention or is often presented in a completely distorted manner [4]. With the Battle of Lauffeldt in 1747, the last major open battle of the war in Flanders took place and we will present this again on our blog.

Since we do not have unlimited time for research on the subject and other formats such as our ongoing discussions on YouTube require a bit of work [5], I would like to consider whether we want to turn our attention to a different topic in the next few years . There would be the option to shed light on the War of the Austrian Succession again 280 years later. In the case of the siege of Freiburg in 1744, we looked at another redoubt a while ago, which is opposite the Franzosenschanze [6] on the slopes of the Rosskopf.

On the other hand, next year will also mark the 290th anniversary of the outbreak of the War of the Polish Succession. This war is also gladly ignored, for example with such bold theses as that Friedrich Wilhelm I did not wage any wars in Prussia [7]. Although unfortunately not equipped with maps that are as good, we have a very useful older publication on the subject, which also covers the campaign in Italy in full [8]. For one thing, I've already dealt with the war by creating a few scenarios. On the other hand, it is also obvious because in 1734/35 the area of Schwäbisch Hall became a transit area for imperial troops. The Heilbronn camp in particular is not only well documented by Gudenus [9]. With the Kehl fortress, there is even a battlefield of the war right on our doorstep.

Was interessiert euch eher?

I look forward to your opinion, whether here in the comments or in other ways. Should I focus on the War of the Polish Succession or the War of the Austrian Succession next year? What are you more interested in?

  1. The War of the Polish Succession is the lesser known war, so that would be very interesting. But either would be good. Even the WAS is relatively unknown.

    1. I agree! Either would be good and both fascinating. I enjoy seeing your scenarios and battle reports on these lesser known conflicts greatly.

    2. Many thanks for your votings although I'm not convinced now which war I should choose.

  2. I am extremely interested on WPS but I would also like to see more about WAS.
So, I have exactly the same opinion with nundanket. You may proceed with the WPS and in due time you return to WAS.
I would like to add that all your articles are very well-presented and historically documented, there is always something new to learn!

    1. Thank you for voting. The WPS is not too long and therefor I can follow your advice.
