Spanische Musketiere für Córdoba! - Spanish Musketeers for Córdoba

Für den Fall, dass wir dieses Jahr nochmal Fleurus spielen sollten, habe ich einige spanische Musketiere bemalt, wofür ich ausschließlich Figuren von RedBox verwendet habe [1]. Als Quelle für die Fahne und die Kasocks nutzte ich ein Gemälde aus Rom [2], das ich in dem Buch zur Schlacht bei Waidhaus gefunden habe. Ich fand das Design besonders ansprechend, auch wenn man auf dem Bildausschnitt 3 verschiedene spanische [3] Uniformen erkennen kann [4].

In case we play Fleurus again this year, I have painted some Spanish musketeers, using exclusively figures from RedBox [1]. For the flag and the cassocks, I used a painting from Rome [2] that I found in the book about the Battle of Waidhaus. I found the design particularly appealing, even though three different Spanish [3] uniforms can be made out in the detail of the image [4].

Ich habe auch endlich eine Protze von Mars bemalt, damit das schwere Geschütz bewegt werden kann [5]. Kein schönes Modell und ein Horror zum Zusammenbauen. Aber man braucht es oder hatte es einfach über, wenn man mal ein großes Geschütz für die Epoche brauchte.

I’ve also finally painted a limber from Mars so that the heavy gun can be moved [5]. It’s not a nice model, and assembling it was a nightmare. But you need one—or simply had one lying around—whenever you needed a large gun for that era.

Im Nachgang ist mir aufgefallen, dass es noch schön wäre für Höchst ein weiteres Regiment Fußvolk zu haben. Diesmal habe ich keine Fahne als Inspiration aus dem Gemälde aus Rom genommen, sondern eine Vorlage aus der 1. Auflage von "Pike & Shotte" [6].  Dafür sind die schwarzen Kassocks mit dem rosa Futter dem Gemälde aus Rom entlehnt. Da ich nicht mehr genug Musketiere aus den beiden Sets von RedBox übrig hatte, habe ich mit Minis von Revell aufgefüllt. Vielleicht haben ja ein paar der Musketiere ihre Kassocks verloren...

In retrospect, I realized it would be nice to have another infantry regiment for Höchst. This time, instead of using a flag from the painting in Rome as inspiration, I used a design from the first edition of "Pike & Shotte" [6]. However, the black cassocks with pink lining were indeed borrowed from the painting in Rome. Since I didn't have enough musketeers left from the two RedBox sets, I supplemented the unit with figures from Revell. Perhaps a few of the musketeers simply lost their cassocks...
