The cardinal and his friend

I finally painted the last figures of the Set of Mounted Guards [1]. One of them obviously should be the comte de Rochefort - one of the major characters of Dumas' novel. He is the famous men from Meung. The figure has the same clothes like a gentleman in the set of guards on foot [2].

The comte de Rochefort is looking somehow strange because he never swings his sword in such a way in the novel. But the figure can be any other officer or civilian on horseback too. (photo: A. Hanselmann, 2026)

His companion is using is firearm, which is a bit odd because his horse is in full speed. (photo: A. Hanselmann, 2026)

There is a similar figure for the cardinal in the set as there is the cardinal in the set of guards on foot. The cardinal has some armour. Maybe the armour is inspired by a painting by Motte [3].

  1. Very nicely done Andre and the Cardinal is always the archetypal bad guy in the films.

  2. I always enjoy seeing some new 1/72 figures emerging from your painting desk. We have not seen this collection out in battle for a while, have we?

    1. That's right. Next will be another skirmish with PML and in August the battle of Lutter (1626).
