Ein Besuch in der Schweiz - A visit in Switzerland

Wir waren in diesem August erneut in der Schweiz. Der Anlass war eine Veranstaltung des Museums Haus Blumenstein und der Schweizer Gruppe "Les soirées amusantes". In dem früheren Haus der Kriegsunternehmerfamilie Greder in Solothurn wurden die Kartenspiele Tarot, Pharo, Whist und L'Hombre sowie Tänze, Musik und Lyrik vorgestellt. Wir selbst führten bei einer Modevorführung Kleidung der Zeit um 1773 vor.

Neben dem Haus Blumenstein hat Solothurn einiges mehr zu bieten. An mehreren Stellen sind Teile der barocken Stadtbefestigung erhalten. Die Architektur der Stadt ist französisch geprägt. Schon in den Religionskriegen hatten Mitglieder der Familie Grede beispielsweise in der Armee des französischen Königs gedient. Ein französischer Ambassadeur residierte bis ins 18. Jahrhundert in der Stadt an der Aare auch um Vertäge über weitere Söldner mit den lokalen Eliten abzuschließen. Besonders bedeutend war auch das Zeughaus von Solothurn, welches zur Notwendigkeit der Stadtbefestigung beitrug. Noch heute sind dort beeindruckende Mengen von Waffen aus etlichen Jahrhunderten erhalten[1].

Zufälligerweise sehr passend zu unserer persönlichen Zeit [2] haben wir im Obergeschoss des Hauses Blumenstein eine Ausstellung zur Kathedrale in Solothurn (St. Urs und Viktor) gesehen, die 1773 vollendet wurde. Diese Ausstellung mit zahlreichen Details und Modellen des Kichenbaues können wir nur empfehlen.

We were in Switzerland again this August. The occasion was an event organized by the Museum Haus Blumenstein and the Swiss group "Les soirées amusantes". The card games Tarot, Pharo, Whist and L'Hombre as well as dances, music and poetry were presented in the former house of the Grede family of wartime entrepreneurs in Solothurn. We ourselves presented clothing from around 1773 at a fashion show.

 

In addition to Haus Blumenstein, Solothurn has a lot more to offer. Parts of the baroque city fortifications have been preserved in several places. The architecture of the city is influenced by the French. For example, members of the Grede family had already served in the army of the French king during the wars of religion. A French ambassador resided in the city on the Aare until the 18th century, also to conclude contracts with the local elite for additional mercenaries. The arsenal of Solothurn, which contributed to the necessity of fortifying the city, was also particularly important. Even today, impressive amounts of weapons from several centuries have been preserved there[1].

Coincidentally, very appropriate to our personal time [2], we saw an exhibition on the cathedral in Solothurn (St. Urs and Viktor), which was completed in 1773, on the upper floor of the Blumenstein house. We can only recommend this exhibition with numerous details and models of the church building.
