Rückblick auf die Saison - view back on the season

Das Jahr 2023 sah uns wieder auf einigen Events. Ich selber musste 2 Veranstaltungen leider auslassen, wo ich gerne interessante Erfahrungen gemacht hätte. Erstmalig waren wir gleich zweimal in der Schweiz. Unsere beiden Veranstaltungen des Cercle d'histoire vivante in Wackershofen haben wir schon ein wenig beleuchtet [1] [2].

The year 2023 saw us at a few events again. Unfortunately, I had to miss two events where I would have liked to have had interesting experiences. For the first time, we were in Switzerland twice. We have already shed some light on our two events at the Cercle d'histoire vivante in Wackershofen [1] [2].

Wir haben uns hinsichtlich unserer Nebenthemen mit den Ereignissen des Jahres 1743 beschäftigt und einige Schlachten vorgestellt. Von daher wird es nächstes Jahr vielleicht noch ein bisschen interessanter insbesondere weil wir den Höhepunkt des Polnischen Thronfolgekrieges behandeln werden. Zu dieser Zeit war ja auch Schwäbisch Hall vom Krieg zumindest ein wenig betroffen [3]. Ich freue mich aber auch darauf auf unserem Blog etwas über die Gefechte bei Weißenburg und Suffelnheim im Elsass 1744.

With regard to our secondary topics, we have dealt with the events of 1743 and presented some battles. So next year things might be a little more interesting, especially because we'll be covering the climax of the War of the Polish Succession. At that time, Schwäbisch Hall was at least somewhat affected by the war [3]. But I'm also looking forward to reading something about the battles near Weißenburg and Suffelnheim in Alsace in 1744 on our blog.

Die Beschäftigung mit den Geschehnissen 1623 hat mir einmal mehr gezeigt wie sehr diese Phase des 30-jährigen Krieges ignoriert wird. Daniel Klotz möchte ich an der Stelle danken, der mir das letzte Jahrzehnt dieses Konfliktes näher gebracht hat. Besonders faszinierend finde ich die mir von ihm ausgeliehene Biographie zum Feldherrn Jan von Werth [4], die ein schönes abwägendes Quellenstudium betreibt. 

 

Dieses sehr schöne Schloss haben wir auf der letzten von uns organisierten Veranstaltung dieses Jahr besucht. Der kleine Ort dazu heißt La Rochelle. Das Schloss stammt aus dem frühen 18. Dealing with the events of 1623 showed me once again how much this phase of the 30 Years' War was ignored. I would like to thank Daniel Klotz, who introduced me to the last decade of this conflict. I find the biography of the general Jan von Werth [4], which he lent me to me, particularly fascinating, as it makes a nice, thoughtful study of the sources.

2023 brachte für unseren Blog ein paar Aufs und Abs. Das Gespräch mit Bernhard Weigl [5] und die Vorstellung eines kurzen Inventars aus dem 18. Jahrhundert hat die meisten Leser gefunden [6]. Ähnlich wie in den Vorjahren hat es ein paar Filme zum rezensieren gegeben. Es ist etwas schade, dass keine besonders guten dabei waren und die letzten passenden Filme, die mich wirklich beeindruckt haben gelaufen sind, bevor ich das Format der Filmkritiken hier gestartet habe [7].

 

Ende Oktober waren wir in Amsterdam. Es gibt viel zu sehen, wenn man sich für das 17. Jh. interessiert. Aber auch für das 18. Jh. lohnt sich die Stadt. Ein Höhepunkt für uns war die Besichtigung des Schiffahrtsmuseums mit dem Nachbau der "Amsterdam", die 1749 gesunken ist. - At the end of October we visited Amsterdam. There is a lot to see if you are interested in the 17th century. Although the town is great if you are more in the 18th century too. 2023 brought a few ups and downs for our blog. The conversation with Bernhard Weigl [5] and the presentation of a short inventory from the 18th century found the most readers [6]. Similar to previous years, there were a few films to review. It's a bit of a shame that there weren't any particularly good ones and the last suitable films that really impressed me were shown before I started the film review format here [7].

Ende November waren wir zum Auswärtsspiel in Ulm. Hier sieht man den Neuen Bau. Ähnlich wie der Neubau in Hall [8] ebenfalls im 16. Jahrhundert errichtet und diente ebenso als Kornspeicher. Wenn der Kreistag in der Frühen Neuzeit das Rathaus belegte, tagte hier der Rat der Reichsstadt Ulm. - At the end of November we were in Ulm for an away game. Here you can see the "Neue Bau". Wir freuen uns schon auf die Rechercheergebnisse in diesem Jahr aus dem Archiv und die Themen des nächsten Jahres. Zurück auf unseren Veranstaltungen möchte ich hiermit unseren Mitorganisator Dandy Kuschel vom Cercle d'histore vivante begrüßen.

 

Das Rathaus von Ulm wurde als Sitz der Versammlung des Schwäbischen Kreises genutzt. Das ist ganz ähnlich wie bei dem Immerwährenden Reichstag in Regensburg, der im dortigen Rathaus tagte. Leider wurde das Rathaus nach der Reichsstadtzeit Ulms stark verändert. - The city hall of Ulm was the domicile of the diet of the Swabian Imperial cercle. That's very much like in Regensburg where the Perpetual Diet of the Holy Roman Empire was situated in the city hall.
